The profile picture is uploaded as a square and shown as a circle, very small in comments and larger on the profile itself. A 360 × 360 square with the face filling most of it stays sharp everywhere; keep anything important away from the corners the circle cuts off.

Facebook's Help Center says the cover photo displays at 820 × 312 on computers and 640 × 360 on smartphones, so phones show more height and less width. The 1200 × 630 size is meant for link images and wide post graphics; it matches the 1.91:1 card used when a link is shared. Photo posts can be square or portrait instead — the Facebook post resizer covers those.

Stories use the same 1080 × 1920 vertical frame as Instagram, with the account name at the top and the reply area at the bottom. Keep text in the middle of the frame.

A Page or event usually needs a matching profile picture, cover and first post. Resize the same photo once per slot: crop tightly for the profile picture, fit or crop wide for the cover, and keep the text-carrying version for the shared post. Facebook recompresses uploads, so start every version from the original photo rather than from another resized copy.

If uploads from your phone look soft, check the Facebook app's media settings: there is an option to upload photos in HD, which is often switched off to save data. Uploading from a computer avoids the issue. Start from the original photo at the sizes on this page rather than a screenshot or a copy downloaded from another social network, which has already been compressed once.

Profile pictures are cropped to a circle and shown as small as a comment avatar, so tight framing beats a full-length shot: head and shoulders, centered, with a plain background. For a Page logo, use Fit inside with PNG so the whole mark is kept with even padding.

When a post has several photos, Facebook arranges them in a grid and crops each one for the preview. People see the full images only after tapping. Put the strongest photo first and keep important details away from the edges, and check the post on a phone, where most people will see it.
