The thumbnail crop should preserve the main face, object or action. Check how much a centered crop removes from a portrait source before committing to it. A landscape composition usually needs less trimming. A correct filename extension alone does not mean that a file has been converted. This page resizes a still image, not a video or an animated sequence.

Review the downloaded copy at its intended display size as well as at full resolution. Enlarging a small source creates more pixels but cannot restore missing detail.
