Compare the product’s edges, texture, labels and included accessories after processing. The main photograph and a close-up may need different budgets even when they show the same item. Fine stitching, patterned fabric and printed packaging can lose useful information under aggressive compression. Allow a larger output when the smaller copy no longer supports a buyer’s reasonable inspection of the product.

Compression does not create a compliant main-image composition or correct a misleading photograph. It does not remove an existing background, rearrange the product, certify a white backdrop or decide whether extra text is permitted in a category. The long-edge preset preserves the source proportions and avoids enlarging a small input, but the target search can reduce dimensions further if needed. Check the final dimensions rather than relying on the starting fields, especially when detail or destination minimums matter. The compressor tries encoding settings and measures their output. JPEG and WebP can discard detail; PNG compression may reduce the color palette.
